Saturday!

I'm hoping for a day with no rain. I just checked the radar and I don't see any green, so I'm heading out to Lincoln Log Cabin with both dogs to take a walk. I've never tried both dogs before so we will see how that goes. I bought a coupler to attach both dogs to one leash. Supposedly they won't get tangled up. We'll see!
I don't have any new pics, so here is another view of the dragonfly I posted yesterday.
This is a juvenile Red-winged blackbird in Bro O's yard.
And this is the 2014 Photo Book. It came last week and was defective. I emailed and sent this pic. They have shipped a replacement copy!

More flowers from Lincoln Log Cabin.

No idea what they are.

Well, I'm off with the pups!

Small Town Fun

Rain, rain go away come again another day. Preferably after the ground dries out enough for us to weed the garden.
We got it tilled before the last series of rain showers, but didn't get the weeds pulled around the plants. This is a squash plant.
On the way to the garden, we saw this lady standing on the far side of a soybean field. We haven't been seeing many deer, so this was a nice surprise.
While Hubs talked to O, I wandered down by the pond and chased this Skimmer around. It was windy, which doesn't allow for sharp pics. He was waving around in the wind. Don't you think he looks like one of the characters from the movie Cars?

My Oriental Lilies are in full bloom. They reside next to the fence by the storage shed. It's really shady there, so they grow taller than they normally would.
And then I took Findley for a walk over by The Rez.
Nice evening.

The Long and Winding Road

Last night was grocery shopping night. Nothing exciting as normal. So, I'm going back to Sunday and my drive up to Lincoln Log Cabin.
This is the long and winding road I often take rather than going up the Burma.
The Wheat fields are getting color. It will soon be time for harvest.
This red clover was growing near a stop sign...
...and the chicory is everywhere along the roadways.
For Bri and Punky Doodle, do you remember this barn? It belonged to Ruth and Clint. Sad to see it falling into disrepair.

Flowers and a Bumble Bee

Today is flower day. Still posting pics from Lincoln Log Cabin Historical Site.
The milkweed is in full bloom.
The bees like it.
Coneflowers
Hollyhocks
Not sure what this is called, but sure is pretty. I have more, but will save them for another day.

Findley and Friends

More from Lincoln Log Cabin Historical Site
Findley impatiently waiting for me to put my camera away and COME ON!
Freshly sheered sheep were outside their fence.
Wandering along the road.
This one took off running and scared Findley. He immediately took up position behind my left leg. I'm sure he would have saved me if the sheep headed my way.

Flying Things

Saturday I went to Mattoon to run errands. I actually intended to have my oil changed at Midas, but they were closed by the time I got there. So I hit Wal-Mart and started my drive home.
On the way I saw this airplane...
...pulling this glider. So I pulled off to the side of the road to get these shots. If you click on the pictures, they will enlarge. You can see how the planes are connected.

Sunday I took Findley with me to The Rez.
We were off to take a walk, but when I drove over to the north side of the water, I saw Goldfinches.

So, of course, I had to try for better pics. And then...
...I saw this Red-headed Woodpecker hanging off a pole.
 And hanging off a tree.
 And another tree.
He seemed to be as fascinated with me as I was with him. I followed him and then he followed me.

After The Rez, Findley and I went for a walk at Lincoln Log Cabin Historical Site. More to follow...

Pretty

It's flower and a dragonfly day.
Even though I spent a long time searching through my wildflower book, I couldn't identify either of these. Pretty though.

A closer view.
