Heat index is predicted to be 114° today. No walking to work for me! I enjoy my morning walks to the office, but not at the expense of arriving a sweaty mess. I've been listening to an audio book At the Water's Edge by Sarah Gruen. By the time it is finished, it will have provided 9 hours of listening pleasure. I'm enjoying the story. She also wrote Water for Elephants which was made into a movie starring Reese Witherspoon.
On the way to The Rez, there is a large grassy area owned by the village. Ealier this spring, a garden appeared on the western most side. I wondered who had been allowed to plant a garden on village property. This sign solved the mystery.
They've even put up scarecrows. Cute!
This little guy was up in the tippy top of a very tall tree, hanging out on a dead limb. He is a juvenile Redheaded Woodpecker.
Must be the son/daughter of Woody that keeps taunting me with photo ops but rarely allows an actual photo. Here he is lounging on the volley ball net.
It's Friday! Have a great one!
Last night was camera club night. The assignment was patriotic, yet again. I really get tired of this subject. It seems we always have this one around July 4th and again on Veteran's Day—almost forgot, Memorial Day, too. How much patriotic do we really need? I haven't bothered trying to take anything new, due to lack of motivation, so I dug into the archives at the last minute and found an offering.
This is the picture I chose. It tied for 1st place with a picture of boots, gun, and helmut with the Vietnam traveling wall in the background.
This photo was taken at an antique store in Bridgton, IN. Taken during our last visit to the Covered Bridge Festival about 3 years ago.
Happy Thursday!
What a lovely evening for a run through the soybeans.
What the H...?
Oh, oh! Humans!
U-turn!
Happy Wednesday!
It was way too hot and humid for walking last evening. The air was so thick it was hard to breath. Besides, last night was book club night. For this month we read Juror 1389: Dorsie Raines Renninger by G.T. Trickle. I gave it one star everyone else was more generous and gave it three stars. In the book there was a vandalism and a doll mailed to the protagonist, but the author failed to tell us who the perpetrator was! Not acceptable! There should have been resolution. Plus it was all over the place, too many people and too much jumping from one idea to another.
Enough of that! Onward...
The camouflaged squirrel.
Munching squirrel.
And another of those cute squirrels.
Toad or Frog? I'm guessing toad. Hubs thinks its a frog. What do you think? Whatever it is, it stops Findley every time we pass him on our walk around The Rez. He stops to smell the toad and I keep walking. He sniffs until I get far enough ahead that his leash will become taunt and then runs to take the lead again. Must be really ripe by now. Yuck!
The Rez.
Happy Tuesday!
Findley really enjoys his car rides...
...now that he discovered hanging his head out the window.
We have lots of robins around here, but they are usually hopping along on the ground.
These guys gave me a nice change of scenery.
This old bullfrog was trying to blend in with the scenery, but I saw him! For Tex...this was taken at The Rez. Do you think Bro O placed another of his fake frogs there?
Happy Monday!
I saw a dove sitting on a wire at The Rez. "Findley! Stop!" I hissed while tucking the leash under my arm with one hand and lifting my camera with the other.
He was busy primping and didn't see me at first.
Then he looked up and realized a human was approaching.
He stared me down...
...gave me the evil eye, and then took off for parts unknown.
Yay! It's Friday!
It's hard to believe, but we actually had a brief period of sunshine last evening. Gone today, though!
This is the second sunflower to show its face. It is a brighter color than the first one.
There were 3 blue jays hopping around on the front walk. This is the only one I could get to stop long enough for a nice blurry shot through the screened in front porch.
I caught Findley trying to dig under the fence. Seems he wanted a baby bird snack.
The ducks were back last night. This one was lagging behind, but didn't turn around enough for a nice front view.
Happy Friday!
